Port Townsend, WA - 05/27/09 - The Port Townsend Arts Commission and Northwind Arts Alliance are seeking submissions for “Expressions Northwest”, the Eleventh Annual Art Port Townsend Juried Art Competition which takes place October 2 – November 1 in Port Townsend, WA. Artists must be at least 16 years of age and a resident of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, or British Columbia. Works in both two- and three- dimensional forms, including photography, are eligible. A total of $2,595 in cash prizes will be awarded. Additionally, merchandise awards will also be presented.
The juror for this show will be Jess Van Nostrand, an independent curator and the Exhibitions Curator for Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA. She has been creating exhibitions with a focus on emerging artists since 2003, emphasizing the potential for dialogue between artists from Europe and the Northwest. Van Nostrand received a BA in Art History at George Washington University and an MA in Art History from Richmond University, London. She is also the author of numerous essays and articles about the arts including the highly popular “Artists’ Guide to Seattle”, an instructor for the Artist Trust EDGE Program, and serves as the Vice Chair of the Seattle alliance of Art Table (the national organization for women leaders in the arts).
A non-refundable entry fee of $35 is required for a maximum of three digital or printed image entries (no slides) per artist. The deadline is August 10, 2009.
