Red Robin started in the 1940s as a tavern close to the University of Washington. Back then it was called Sam’s Tavern. Sam liked to sing in a barber shop quartet and was always singing the song “When the Red Robin Goes Bob Bob Bobbin‘ Along.” Sam liked the song so much, he changed the name of his tavern to Sam’s Red Robin. By the late 60’s Sam’s tavern just became Red Robin, transforming his small tavern into a 1,200 square-foot building on a Seattle hilltop.

Red Robin is known for having a variety of gourmet hamburgers, including the Royal Red Robin Burger which is topped with a fresh fried egg, three strips of hickory maple-smoked bacon, American cheese, crisp lettuce, tomatoes and mayo. If you want something besides a hamburger, you’ll also find great salads, chicken and pasta dishes on the menu.

On average, entrees at Red Robin range between $8 and $12. The restaurant is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Reservations are accepted, but not required, and takeout orders are also welcome.
