It's Halloween night and you're looking for a good scare to really make the holiday frightfully fantastic. A horror movie is your best bet, but will it be scary enough? We've got some suggestions here, rated on a scale from "wimpy" (1) to "simply terrifying "(10). View at your own risk!

1. "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" (1996)

This made-for-TV movie is cute, but Linus's Great Pumpkin isn't exactly Freddy Krueger.

2. "Twilight" (2008)

There is nothing scary about sparkly, fangless vampires.

3. "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (1993)

Who doesn't love Tim Burton? What about stop-motion animation, or musicals? This film has it all - except the horror.

4. "The Others" (2001)

More creepy than terrifying, it's still one of the smartest ghost thrillers out there.

5. "Carrie" (1976)

Still disturbing after all these years.

6. "The Exorcist" (1978)

Satan, vomit, a little girl issuing deep-voiced expletives. Need I go on?

7. "Halloween" (1978)

Slasher horror at its best, genre-defining moment. Plus there's nothing more ominous than watching "Halloween" on Halloween.

8. "The Descent" (2005)

Five women deep in a mysteriously undocumented cave, what could go wrong? Oh...

9. "The Ring" (2002)

This film is cinematically beautiful, but don't let that distract you from the sheer terror of the little girl trapped in the well.

10. "Rec" (2007)

A Spanish reporter ends up locked in a zombie-infested apartment building. Match that with shaky cinematography and dim lighting, and we have our winner.
